Finland to use new EU loan financing to bolster defence
Finland has decided to use EUR one billion in financing from the EU’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) financial instrument to strengthen the defence industry. The plan is to use the financing for multinational joint procurement that will strengthen Finland’s ground combat capabilities and for developing drone performance capabilities in cooperation with Ukraine and its allies. The Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy decided on the matter on Tuesday 18 November. -

NATO permanent representatives to visit Finland
Permanent representatives of NATO member states will visit Rovaniemi and Rovajärvi in Finland on 20–21 November. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen will take part in the program on Thursday and Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen on Friday. -

Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen: The joint procurement of armoured infantry combat vehicles is progressing
On 12 October 2025, Finland signed a technical arrangement (TA) on a possible joint procurement of armoured infantry combat vehicles between Finland, Sweden, Norway, Lithuania, Estonia and the Netherlands. The participating countries will examine a possible joint procurement of CV90 combat vehicles based on the TA. -

Minister of Defence Häkkänen: Nordic and Baltic countries announce USD 500 million package of support for Ukraine under PURL
Finland, Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden announced today on 13 November 2025 that they will fund a USD 500 million package of defence materiel for Ukraine sourced from the United States, under the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative of NATO and the United States. -

Finland and Sweden to deepen cooperation in command and control systems
The Finnish Defence Forces and the Swedish Armed Forces have signed a framework agreement on command and control systems (C2S) with the Finnish company Bittium Wireless Oy. The company produces C2S solutions, such as tactical communication systems and related products and services. -
