Finland’s Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen has decided that Finland will join the Maritime Capability Coalition, led by the United Kingdom and Norway. The Coalition aims to support the development of the Ukrainian Navy. Altogether 17 countries have joined the Coalition so far.

“Finland has joined several capability coalitions after a careful case-by-case consideration, always ensuring that our contribution will be sufficient and effective, bringing definite added value to the building of Ukraine’s military capabilities,” Minister Häkkänen said.

Finland has already joined the capability coalitions on artillery, armour, de-mining and information technology. These international capability coalitions aim to provide sustained support to Ukraine. They plan and guide the building of the future capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces together with Ukrainians.
