Finland’s Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen has authorised the Finnish Defence Forces to sign a support and maintenance contract for the Two-sided Combat Simulator System (KASI) for 2025–2028 with the Swedish company Saab AB Training & Simulation.

“The Two-sided Combat Simulator System plays an important role in the development of the Defence Forces’ capabilities. When troops use the system in their exercises, they get immediate feedback, which helps them improve their skills. This creates credible defence,” Minister Häkkänen says.

The Finnish Defence Forces first introduced the Two-sided Combat Simulator System in 2005. It can be used in combat exercises between reinforced companies. The system makes it possible to organise instrumented training exercises involving up to 2,000 participants.

The Finnish Defence Forces will sign a service contract with Saab AB Training & Simulation on support and maintenance for the KASI system. The total price of the contract and options, VAT excluded, is EUR 17.85 million. The Finnish Defence Forces’ Joint Systems Centre will be responsible for servicing and maintaining the KASI system.

The domestic employment effect of the service and procurement contract will be about 32 person-years
