The Finnish Defence Forces and the Swedish Armed Forces have signed a framework agreement on command and control systems (C2S) with the Finnish company Bittium Wireless Oy. The company produces C2S solutions, such as tactical communication systems and related products and services.

“Defence cooperation between Finland and Sweden is frequent, and this is yet another sign that our cooperation is working. Joint framework agreements enable cost-effective procurement that improve our mutual interoperability. Larger orders placed through C2S framework agreements guarantee us lower prices for products and services. They also improve our ability to develop products together with system suppliers. The present agreement will benefit our defence on a broad scale,” Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen said.

Authorised by Minister of Defence Häkkänen, Major General Tero Ylitalo, Director of the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command, signed the agreement on behalf of Finland.

Earlier this year, on 2 April 2025, Finland and Sweden signed a similar agreement with the Finnish company Telenor Maritime Oy (now KNL Networks Oy).

Other countries may join in on the framework agreements.
