Finland and Latvia agree on joint life cycle services for CAVS vehicles
Finland and Latvia have signed an agreement on joint life cycle services for the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) with Patria.
Joint life cycle services provide the Member States with shared technical configuration management services, information exchange forum, planning and support services for joint spare part procurement, and helpdesk and feedback system services for maintaining Patria's XA-300 wheeled armoured vehicle system.
- This is an important step in the multinational CAVS project led by Finland. The joint agreement secures cost-effective life cycle maintenance services for vehicles and creates a framework for closer cooperation throughout the life cycle, says Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen.
The service agreement covers the period 2024-2029 and its total value for Finland, including value added tax, is approximately EUR 2.5 million. During the contract period, the domestic employment effect will be about 20 person-years
Under the now signed agreement, Finland and Latvia can conclude national maintenance agreements that cover spare parts sales and repair and modification services. These agreements will have a significant impact on employment in Finland.
Other CAVS Member States, such as Sweden, have the opportunity to join the now signed service agreement on joint CAVS life cycle services.
The goal of the CAVS programme, launched in cooperation between Finland and Latvia in 2020, is to develop an armoured 6x6 vehicle system for the needs of the Member States. Deliveries of vehicles are already underway to Finland, Sweden and Latvia. The countries have already ordered a total of 700 armoured vehicles from Patria, and most recently, Finland purchased heavy armoured vehicles for crisis management tasks.
