Promotions to General and Admiral

The President of the Republic Tarja Halonen has promoted on 4 June 2006 Brigadier General Jaakko Oksanen to the rank of Major General, Commodore Juha Rannikko to the rank of Rear Admiral, Colonel Juhani Kääriäinen to the rank of Brigadier General, Colonel Juha-Pekka Liikola to the rank of Brigadier General, Colonel Vesa Tynkkynen to the rank of Brigadier General and Colonel (engineering) Jukka Juusti to the rank of Brigadier General (engineering).

Major General Jaakko Taneli Oksanen (born 1948) has served since September 2005 as the deputy chief in the Monitoring Mission in Aceh. He has been appointed as the Commander of the Helsinki Military Province from 1 August 2006 onwards.

Rear Admiral Juha Sakari Rannikko (born 1955) has served since January 2004 as the Deputy Service Chief of the Defence Forces. He has been appointed as the Service Chief of the Defence Forces from 1 July 2006 onwards.

Brigadier General Juhani Mikael Kääriäinen (born 1952) has served since June 2004 as the Commander of the Kymi Military Province. He has been appointed as the Deputy Service Chief of the Defence Forces from 1 July 2006 onwards.

Brigadier General Juha-Pekka Liikola (born 1954) has served since February 2006 as the Chief of Staff at the Western Command Headquarters. Before this he worked as the Director of the Army Academy in Lappeenranta.

Brigadier General Vesa Tapio Tynkkynen (s. 1954) has served since August 2005 as the Commander of the Kainuu Brigade. Before this he worked in the National Defence College as a head of a department.

Brigadier General (engineering) Jukka Matti Juusti (born 1955) has served since 1 June 2006 as the Chief Engineer of the Defence Forces. Before this he worked as a head engineer at the Defence Staff.
