Minister of Defence Carl Haglund to visit Asia

Minister of Defence Carl Haglund is to visit Beijing on 27 October 2014, Tokyo on 28 to 29 October and Singapore on 29 to 30 October 2014.

In Beijing Minister Haglund will meet China's Minister of National Defence General Chang Wanquan. The ministers are going to discuss the relations between the two countries, the security policy situation in Asia and Europe and the United Nation?s current crisis-management operations. During his visit in China Minister Haglund will also meet the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission.

In Tokyo Minister Haglund will be hosted by Japan's Defence Minister Akinori Eto. The ministers will address the relations between the two countries, the bilateral cooperation between the defence administrations, the challenges of crisis management and regional security issues.

In Singapore Minister Haglunds working visit's agenda includes questions related to defence materiel cooperation and defence industry. Minister Haglund will participate in the export promotion event initiated by the Association of Finnish Defence and Aerospace Industries.
