Minister of Defence Carl Haglund to Brussels
In the context of Nato?s Defence Ministers' meeting, Minister of Defence Carl Haglund will participate in the ISAF meeting on 23 October in Brussels. In addition to the member states contributing to the ISAF operation, Afghanistan´s Defence Minister, the High Representative of the EU and the UN Special Representative for Afghanistan are invited to attend the meeting.
The following topics will be addressed at the ISAF meeting: the situation of security transition, the support to the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and the planning of the post-ISAF mission Resolute Support. One of the goals of the meeting is to confirm Nato?s military plan of action to implement the UN Security Council's Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security in Nato?s operations. Minister Haglund will also participate in the Defence Ministers? meeting of the ISAF Regional Command North which will be hosted by Germany.
