Finnish Defence Forces' research programme 2025 to begin

Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen has authorised the Defence Forces Logistics Command to conclude contracts regarding the Defence Forces' research programme 2025 (PVTO2025).

The entire package contains three ‘umbrella projects’ which are further divided into research projects. The programme will be procured one project at a time using the Design to Cost principle. In 2025, the Defence Forces will carry out feasibility studies supporting the research programme, and in 2026-2027 possible additional studies. The total value of the contracts for 2025 is EUR 6 million while the overall value of the procurement contracts with options is EUR 24 million. The employment impact is estimated to be 34 person-years in 2025.

- The research programme will produce information for the strategic planning and development needs of the Defence Forces. The aim is to create new concepts and prove that they are well-functioning. At the same time, we will support Finnish scientific communities and industry across Finland, says Minister of Defence Häkkänen.

Domestic scientific communities and industry representatives have been selected to carry out the projects. The following organisations will carry the main responsibility for implementation: 61 Northpoint Solutions Oy, Image Soft Oy, Patria Aviation Oy, Saab Finland Oy, Solita Oy, Senop Oy, Accenture Oy, Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, University of Jyväskylä and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.
