Finland supports progress of CAVS programme by selling XA-300 armoured pre-series vehicles
Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen has decided to sell three XA-300 pre-series armoured vehicles to Patria Oyj, their manufacturer.
The Defence Forces purchased the vehicles for testing as part of the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme before the serial procurement of the vehicles. The Defence Forces have carried out field tests as planned with the pre-series vehicles. Their selling price is approximately EUR 1.8 million.
The goal of the CAVS programme, launched in cooperation between Finland and Latvia in 2020, is to develop an armoured 6x6 vehicle system for the needs of the Member States. Sweden joined the project in 2022 and Germany in 2023. Open to European countries with similar equipment requirements, the CAVS programme strengthens European defence and NATO cooperation. As the pre-series vehicles will be utilised in the further development of CAVS vehicle variants, the sale promotes the progress of the CAVS programme while at the same time supporting the domestic defence industry.
